The Power Cosmic is the title of one of our songs and our current CD. The name was partially inspired by mind altering experiences on a beach, but mostly inspired by The Silver Surfer:

The Power Cosmic is a fictional force that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics, primarily wielded by the cosmic entity Galactus.

The Silver Surfer, as well Galactus’ other heralds, possess certain measures of the Power Cosmic. Bestowed on them by Galactus during their service to him, their abilities and assigned elements of influence vary, but the power can usually be expelled violently as concussive force and used with precision as a means to restructure molecules according to the user’s mental design. However, heralds are imbued with only a fraction of the amount possessed by Galactus and he has repeatedly shown that he is able to strip them of the power he has afforded them

During the Annihilation fictional crossover event, the Power Cosmic was revealed to be a force that replaces the “auras” (or souls) of the characters imbued with its properties, causing each wielders’ body and physical form to uniquely adapt in order to store and control the Power Cosmic.

It is titled “Horace’s life and character: An epitome of his Satires and Epistles” by Robert Hovenden. The only information I could find about it was that it was written in 1887 and it is a work of Literary Criticism.

I thought I’d write about this to add some class to the website. Maybe i’d be able to create some rumor about how we got our name, eventhough we explain it in this interview.

Men rise from heavy suppers: last night’s vice

Weighs down the body and through it the soul,

Embruting the diviner part of man.

Another, supping lightly, sleeps at once,

And wakes refresh’d to his appointed work.

Yet will he sometimes give himself a treat,

When the New-Year brings round a festive day,

Or his spare body craves a little change,

Or when years and infirmity excuse

Soft treatment: what can men fall back upon,

In youth and health carousing to excess,

When sickness overtakes them or old age?

  • We are ironing out some x-mas song issues. Got to get them wrinkle free for this weekend. #
  • Every 4 years when “last night’s vice presidential debate” happens. Our google search results get messed up. #
  • Just planted a tree w/ my iPhone. Do something charitable this x-mas. Come to our show at The Pit. It’s 4 a good cause; or plant a tree #
  • Went to the practice space. Setting up at Slackers now. We’ll probably eat and head to The Pit. #
  • We got Speakerhead candle holders from some fans at The Pit for x-mas. Awesome! #
  • Just finished up. Sunday But Summer & BAMF! Were great. Expect the same from Dan Kelly. #
