Last Nights Vice on the Web

Posted by: jfitzsimmons In: Blog

Facebook-MovieI noticed that we were getting a lot of traffic to lastnightsvice.com from our Facebook page and wanted to be able to promote it more, so more fans would use it. I wanted to list the benefits and features of the page as well as spotlight some other places on the web were we can be found. I’m also looking for feedback on any other sites I may have missed. If you have any ideas be sure to let me know in the comments.

Our Facebook page right now has close to 300 fans, (Hi Mom), but I think we could get a lot more. Right now you can automatically get all our latest updates through our facebook wall. This includes new shows, videos, songs, etc… You can communicate with us on any of our posts, as well as talk to any other fans in the community. We also have a music tab that integrates with our iLike page. iLike was recently acquired by Myspace and is a site that showcases bands media. I’m going to add some more songs and video to vamp our iLike page up, in the process, vamping our facebook page up. We could also afford to have some more photos on our facebook page, so I’ll add some of those too. The best part of all about using our facebook page is that you can get your fill of Last Nights Vice from the comfort of the site you use the most: Facebook. if that wasn’t enough, you can use your facebook account to log into lastnightsvice.com. Just click the login link in the header of our site and login with your facebook credentials. You can then post on our wall, and leave comments on any of our posts. You will also be part of the Last Nights Vice community, which has its advantages.

Another site I want to talk about is ourstage.com. We’ve been getting some press from this site and I’d like to mention it. It is basically a place where bands create an electronic press kit with music, press info, bio, videos and more. Bands can then select songs each month to compete against other bands of the same genre. You basically rank which songs you like the most. While I don’t believe that music is a sport where bands play against each other, it’s almost as addictive as Peggle.

In the same hypocritical fashion, we are also on famecast. Similar to Ourstage but bands compete for different prizes. You get the chance to play on big tours like, Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, Pactour and more. This site is a little more based around fan participation. The lastnightsvice.com feed is also linked to this site, so you can get all of our news there too.

Twitter is quickly becoming on of my favorite sites. Definitely follow us, and we’ll do the same. It seems to be the quickest way of relaying information, and getting it in return and it doesn’t seem to consume most of my day… yet.

Last.fm is cool, or was cool. It’s starting to lose its flair after CBS bought it. Here you can go and listen to Last Nights Vice songs and get recommendations of similar artists. The site can also search your iTunes ad iPod for the music you listen too, and give you recommendations from that. So keep blaring Last Nights Vice on you iPods and iTunes. I loved this site for about the first year I used it. I found a lot of new artists. There just comes a point where finding new music wasn’t as complicated as it seemed.

Flickr for all of our photos. If you have any live shots of us, please let us know. You can even tag us on facebook, and we’ll find them that way.

YouTube for all of our videos. If you have a YouTube account, please friend us. Some of the best times online are had passing videos around.

Our Myspace page has been a little neglected for a while now. It sees it is heavily used by bands so we want to stay in that realm and improve it anyway we can. The spam is just out of control, and as a band it is hard to determine who to reject and who to approve. We will still be adding all of our new songs to Myspace and submitting all of our recent posts. Their are also gadgets on our page for ringtones, twitter, etc…

Please let us know if there are any other sites you like, that you think we should be on.

P.S. – The image is the cast of The Social Network. A movie about the founders of facebook. Directed by David Fincher(Fight Club), written by Aaron Sorkin(The West Wing) and starring Jesse Eisenberg(Zombieland) and Justin Timberlake(N’Sync). The movie should be out October, 2010.
